Lindsay puts tennis on hold to have baby

Former World No1 Lindsay Davenport is pregnant with her second child and has pulled out of next month's Australian Open.

The 32-year-old said she does not know when she will return to tennis and speculation will now increase that Davenport will retire.

"Of course this unexpected but exciting surprise now means I will be putting tennis on hold for the foreseeable future," she said.

The American returned to the tour last year after giving birth to her first child, Jagger.

She subsequently won four more tournaments - taking her career total to 55 - but has not played since the US Open in September.
