Linford ready to pack his lunch-box and help UK Athletics' top brass

Former Olympic champion Linford Christie has thrown his hat into the ring to succeed departed UK Athletics performance director Dave Collins.
Collins stepped down this week after the governing body decided not to renew his contract in the light of Great Britain's disappointing showing at the Beijing Games.
Next step: Lindford Christie wants to help UK Athletics
UK Athletics are now considering scrapping the performance director post and creating a new one of head coach and Christie wants to see it filled by someone with experience of the sport.
The 1992 Olympic 100 metres gold medallist, famed for his well-stocked lunch-box, told Sky News: "I don't have a favoured candidate but I think I could do the job very well and there are a lot of ex-athletes out there who could do a very good job.
"The problem with our sport is a lot of people who run it work for the sport but are not really in it.
"I think we need to get ex-sports people who understand athletics to come back in and run our sport."
Christie, however, feels Collins has been made a scapegoat for Britain's below-par performance in China this summer.
Britain fell one short of their five medal target, a return which compared unfavourably to the country's impressive showing in other sports.
"It doesn't really mean because Dave Collins has gone that things are going to be better," Christie added.
"I think Dave was doing a very good job but he was always looking over his shoulder - when it was going to end. He couldn't really relax.
"There are a lot more people I feel need to go, rather than Dave Collins.
"But saying that, we have still got to be positive and whoever comes in we have got to work with him.".
