New boy: Switzerland's Philipp Degen
Rafa Benitez has added Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri to the list of candidates to provide cover for first-choice Pepe Reina.
The Liverpool manager has already been linked with moves for Fulham's Antti Niemi and Bordeaux veteran Ulrich Rame and is now considering bidding for Palmeiras number one Cavalieri.
The 26-year old has already secured a European work permit and attracted interest from Fiorentina and Benfica.
Switzerland defender Philipp Degen agreed to a four-year deal with Liverpool on Thursday.
The 25-year-old Degen left Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer to become Rafael Benitez's first signing of the summer.
The Reds said another defender, Andrea Dossena, is likely to sign from Udinese in the "coming days."
