Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks
A bodyguard for the son of co-owner Tom Hicks was charged with assault after a bust-up in a Liverpool hotel over the weekend.
Police arrested the minder in the early hours of Sunday morning after a security guard was punched in the face at the Hard Days Night Hotel on North John Street.
Witnesses said alcohol and cutlery were hurled out of an upstairs window to the street below.
A drunken fracas is believed to have revolved around Alex Hicks and his group of friends.
Merseyside Police confirmed they had arrested and charged a man.
Paul Pratt, 40, was bailed to appear before Liverpool magistrates on September 30.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Mr Pratt was working as a member of Hicks's own personal minder team.
A spokesman for the Hard Days Night Hotel said: 'There was an altercation during which a security guard working for us sustained injuries. It involved a party of Alex Hicks who was staying at the hotel, although the offence did not involve Alex Hicks himself.'
The incident follows angry scenes back in February when another of Mr Hicks’s sons Tom Hicks Junior was forced into a hasty retreat from the Sandon pub near Anfield. He had a pint of beer thrown over him as the atmosphere turned nasty.
Alex Hicks was at Anfield on Saturday to see Liverpool beat Manchester United in the Premier League. His father did not attend the match.
