Liverpool snap up Levski Sofia keeper

Liverpool have signed Bulgarian goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov from Levski Sofia.

Mihaylov, son of Bulgarian Football Union president Borislav Mihaylov, signed a three-year contract with the Merseysiders with an option for a further two years.

"I have no words," said the keeper after passing a medical in Liverpool. "This is the greatest moment of my life." Mihaylov, who turns 19 today, made his senior international debut in a 5-1 defeat by Scotland in the Kirin Cup in Japan last May.

He was in the Levski squad in the Champions League group stages last year.

Mihaylov will look to put pressure on Scott Carson for the role of Jose Reina's goalkeeping understudy at Anfield.
