Liverpool striker Torres to shun Chelsea as he aims to become an Anfield legend

Fernando Torres has shrugged off Chelsea's advances by declaring he wants be a Liverpool legend like Kenny Dalglish.

Sportsmail revealed Stamford Bridge owner Roman Abramovich was prepared to fund a £50million swoop for the 24-year-old Spaniard, who scored 33 goals in his debut season at Anfield.

But Torres, who joined Liverpool from Atletico Madrid for £21.5m last summer, told The Sun: “I feel very confident here. This is my team, my city and Anfield is my pitch. I feel very good.

“It’s very important for me to make the fans happy.I think they love me and I love them.”

“I was with Kenny Dalglish the other week and you could see on people’s faces how much of a hero he is. I want everyone to remember me in 20 years’ time.”
