Liverpool's Mascherano aiming for Olympic and Premier League double

Javier Mascherano is adamant he will repay Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez's gamble of letting the Argentine go to the Olympics - by bringing the Premier League title to Anfield.
Despite being overage, the 24-year-old midfielder will form the fulcrum of his country's midfield in Beijing, but will miss the first batch of Premier League fixtures.
Benitez could have shattered Mascherano's Olympic dream, but felt the objection was too late, and the player aims to hit the ground running when he returns to Anfield at the end of August.
Golden boy: Mascherano is hoping for a trophy-laden season
'I'm going to the Olympics and I'm leaving the team for one month. Hopefully I will go to Beijing and win the gold medal for my country,' Mascherano said.
'Then I will come back and help Liverpool win the title. Those are my goals and that is my dream.
'Liverpool understand how much this means to me and I thank them for their support," he told the Daily Mirror.
Liverpool will also be devoid of feloow Olympians Brazilian Lucas Leiva and Dutchman Ryan Babel.
