Liverpool's new set of eyes and ears will put Benitez under American owners' microscope

There will soon be more upheaval at Liverpool following the appointment of headhunters charged with filling a new staff job.

The vacancy is for an executive who will become the eyes and ears of the club's American owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks and report directly to them.

Benitez: They'll be watching you

The search is being conducted by an American with an office in Holland who has had previous business dealings with Gillett.

The need for Hicks and Gillett to find someone within the Liverpool staff who they can trust doesn't augur well for chief executive Rick Parry, whose future at Anfield has been a subject of much conjecture.
