Liverpool's Torres and Portsmouth keeper James join Ronaldo in nominations for PFA Player of Year award

Reigning PFA player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo again heads the list of nominees for this year's award.

The Portuguese winger has enjoyed an outstanding season, scoring 37 goals so far as Manchester United chase the Premier League title and the European Cup.

Hot favourite: Cristiano Ronaldo will be expected to win the PFA Player of the Year award for the second year running

Arsenal pair Cesc Fabregas and Emmanuel Adebayor are also in the running, as is Liverpool striker Fernando Torres, who has had a prolific debut campaign in English football.

Liverpool's consistent midfielder Steven Gerrard, who has helped the club to another European Cup semi-final, is also one of the nominees.

Portsmouth's veteran goalkeeper David James makes up the list, after a string of superb performances in the club's run to the FA Cup final.
