Lowe remains upbeat as Dutch club resist Southampton's Poortvliet swoop

Confident: Rupert Lowe

Rupert Lowe is confident the saga over new Southampton boss Jan Poortvliet and his former club Helmond Sport will be settled.

Poortvliet remains under contract with the Dutch club, despite Saints unveiling him last week.

But Lowe insists the only sticking point is a compensation package, which Poortvliet is due to settle himself.

He said: “We’ve just got to tie up the compensation issue and Jan has agreed to pay it out of his own pocket.”
