Lucas: I turned down United for Liverpool

Brazilian midfielder Lucas claims he turned down moves to Manchester United and Everton before joining Liverpool from Gremio in a £5million deal.

Anfield manager Rafael Benitez said the 20-year-old had told him of the other interested clubs, adding: "A lot were after him, so we had to move quickly."

Lucas hopes to make his Liverpool bow in today's Asia Trophy Final against Portsmouth in Hong Kong.
