Lynch bank details found at gambler's home, Fallon court told

The jury at the Old Bailey race-fixing trial heard yesterday that jockey Fergal Lynch's bank details were found at the home of professional gambler Miles Rodgers.

The information was found in a black briefcase at Rodgers' Sheffield home in September 2004 by police sergeant Richard Peacock.

Police officers also found shredded paper at Rodgers' Italian restaurant, Tiamo, also in Sheffield.

Some of this was reconstituted by Sergeant Peacock, who colour coded the strips and photocopied them. One of the pages had the initials KF and £2,500 on it.

The prosecution argue that these are the initials of Kieren Fallon and show his link to Rodgers.

Earlier the jury at the trial had heard evidence from Andrew Balding, the trainer of Ballinger Ridge who lost a race at Lingfield in March 2004 after being eased by Fallon.

Balding agreed with defence counsel that Fallon had made a "howling blunder" when beaten and was "mortified".

Balding added that Fallon was concerned at missing the valuable Dubai World Cup as the result of his subsequent 21-day ban for "dropping his hands."

Fallon, Darren Williams, Lynch, his brother Shaun, Rodgers and Philip Sherkle all deny conspiring to defraud Betfair customers. Rodgers also denies concealing the proceeds of crime.
