Villanueva
Promising Chile playmaker Carlos Villanueva is on the verge of a move to the Barclays Premier League.
The talented 22-year-old seemed to be on his way to Real Sociedad until his club Audax Italiano pulled the plug due to the Spanish club's financial difficulties.
And now the Chileans are considering a £3million bid from an unnamed Premier League club.
Audax and the player have refused to reveal the identity of the English side but it is understood that they are not one of the Big Four, with some speculating that Manchester City might be interested after missing out on signing Brazil playmaker Ronaldinho, who chose AC Milan over Eastlands.
Villanueva, nicknamed 'Pineapple', said: 'I have all this week to listen to offers. I spoke with the board and hopefully we can get a good deal that suits me and the club.
Audax, who sold Franco di Santo to Chelsea for about £3.4m in January, are determined to hold on to their man until the end of the year, but Villanueva is also interesting Hertha Berlin after impressing for Chile following a goalscoring international debut at the Copa America a year ago.
