Manchester United ready to resurrect bid for Spurs' striker Dimitar Berbatov

Manchester United are ready to resurrect their move for Tottenham’s Dimitar Berbatov.

Spurs will demand £25million and look to get a player in return. Goalkeeper Ben Foster interests them but United would be reluctant to do anything other than a loan deal.

Roma are understood to be rivalling Bordeaux in a move for Mikael Silvestre.

The United defender, 30, may stay at Old Trafford but he is wanted on loan by Bordeaux and Roma have offered around £2.5m.

Bordeaux director Marius Tresor said: ‘There is the risk he’ll find a permanent transfer to Roma more attractive than a loan to Bordeaux.’

United and Chelsea have also been linked with Lyon’s former Arsenal target, Hatem Ben Arfa.
