Maradona leaves hospital to go to specialist clinic

Argentina legend Diego Maradona has been discharged from hospital and moved to a specialist clinic in Buenos Aires.

Maradona was rumoured to be on the verge of moving to a hospital in Switzerland or Cuba, but instead ended his nine days of medical attention with a transfer to an institution in Almagro, where he will receive new treatment.

The 46-year-old former footballer's personal doctor Alfredo Cahe told television network TN: "This is the first time that he (Maradona) has allowed himself to be admitted to this type of clinic.

"We are confident because all the tests have come back normal, but we are going to check on him every day.

"He is mentally fit and I hope that this will be the last time that he has to be admitted to a clinic."

In previous interviews, Cahe has said that Maradona will receive treatment to cure alcohol addiction at the new clinic.
