Maradona quit stories scotched

Argentina have dismissed speculation that Diego Maradona is set to resign as their coach just 10 days after being appointed.

The 48-year-old World Cup winner has reportedly clashed with Argentina Football Association chief Julio Grondona, who does not approve of the choice of Oscar Ruggeri as assistant coach.

But their FA's technical secretary Carlos Bilardo said: "He won't resign. I have spoken to Diego and told him he has to go slowly. There are 500 people he can choose to assist him. When I coached Argentina I had to change my whole staff after five months. But Diego wants them all at once."
