Martins determined to make his mark with Magpies

Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins insists he wants to stay at the club and prove himself to boss Sam Allardyce.

Allardyce has been reluctant to use the Nigeria forward as Michael Owen's strike partner.

But with Mark Viduka injured, Martins scored his fifth goal of the season when he and Owen started against Tottenham on Monday.

Martins said: "If Sam Allardyce is here for five years I'll be here for five years."
