Slammed: Younes Kaboul of Tottenham is set to move to Pompey
The Sunderland manager said: 'Younes Kaboul has decided not to sign for us and we wish him well.
'I think it might have helped if I had taken him to the casino until four in the morning. What do I mean? You're intelligent, work it out.
'People have different ways of dealing with different players but it's a long time since I was still up at four in the morning – that's not my style.
'Younes made his decision and the important thing for me is that I got the chance to bring him to the club for a look around and to speak to him.
'We made a good offer but it's not happened on this occasion and we move on.'
