McIlory to make Walker Cup bow

Rory McIlory has been named in the Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup team to face the United States next month.

Picked: Rory McIlroy

The 18-year-old from Northern Ireland, winner of the silver medal as leading amateur in the Open Championship, will attract a large home crowd to Royal County Down on 8-9 September.

Rhys Davies, Nigel Edwards and Lloyd Saltman, all members of the 2005 team beaten in Chicago, have also been selected.
