French farce: Lewis Hamilton will bounce back from his 10th place at Magny Cours, says his McLaren boss
McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh has assured British Formula One fans that Lewis Hamilton possesses the mental strength to bounce back into the championship lead at Silverstone.
Hamilton will carry out testing duties on the Northamptonshire track this week, trying to clear his head before the British Grand Prix on July 6 after two races without scoring points.
Hamilton has slumped to fourth in the standings, 10 points off Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, but Whitmarsh believes Hamilton is not cracking under the pressure, saying: ‘Lewis will be determined at every race and especially at Silverstone.
'We have had a nightmare start to the season and he is 10 points away from leading the drivers’ championship. That can swing in one weekend.’
Whitmarsh also looked to avert conflict by denying that McLaren believe they are being victimised by the FIA, who have penalised Hamilton twice in two races.
