McNally in frame for Arsenal job after leaving Craven Cottage

Fulham managing director David McNally today left the club, prompting fresh speculation he could be heading to Arsenal to replace Keith Edelman.

McNally joined as commercial director in January 2005 and was promoted the following year.

But he has had mixed success with managers. He was behind the appointment of both Lawrie Sanchez, who was eventually sacked, and Roy Hodgson, who saved the club from relegation.

McNally has been linked with the chief executive’s role -vacated by Edelman -at Arsenal, although the club are also considering an approach to Premier League boss Richard Scudamore.

In a statement Fulham said: "David McNally, managing director of Fulham Football Club, has today commenced six months notice of termination of employment, and will meanwhile cease all his duties and responsibilities with immediate effect.

"Pending the appointment of a new managing director, Mr McNally's responsibilities will be shared between a number of senior employees, under the day-to-day direction of Chris Bailey.

"The club would like to thank Mr McNally for his efforts and contributions over recent seasons, and wishes him every success in the future."
