Sven-Goran Eriksson will be confirmed as the new manager of the Mexico national team on Monday, according to the head of the country's governing body.
Mexican Football Federation president Justino Compean claims Eriksson, whose future as Manchester City boss has been the subject of intense speculation over recent weeks, has agreed the details of the deal.
Speaking from Sydney, where he has been attending FIFA's annual congress, Compean revealed the Swede beat off competition from Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari to emerge as the federation's number one choice.

Mexican wave: Sven may have said his goodbyes to the City fans
He told W Radio: "We only seriously considered Scolari and Eriksson. We've sorted out the details with Eriksson and we are about to confirm him.
"We are expecting to reveal it (the new coach) on June 2, so he can be formally unveiled on the 3rd. It's about to be completed, but as long as we don't have anything signed we cannot reveal anything."
Compean did go on to state, however, that the federation's directors were now unanimous in their choice of the man to succeed Hugo Sanchez.
He added: "We have already talked to the directors and convinced the ones who initially disagreed.
"Here we take unanimous decisions and the name will be accepted by everyone."
