The Egypt international, who is out of his country's African Cup of Nations defence, came through his first game in almost three months this week and played for the first half against Newcastle United at Billingham.
Mido has had a pubic bone injury which has forced him to miss Boro's relegation fight as well as the tournament in Ghana where Egypt opened their campaign with an impressive win over Cameroon.

Mido: the Middlesbrough striker is set for a return against Mansfield
Boro face lowly League Two side Mansfield Town in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday lunchtime and Southgate says the former Tottenham striker will be in the squad which travels to Nottinghamshire.
He said: "I will probably involve him in the squad but I have to think about putting him in the 16. It was good to see him back but he is still short of match fitness and for him it was important to see a chink of light and get a game."
Gary O'Neil is struggling with a virus and is a major doubt, Jonathan Woodgate is likely to be out with a shin injury which has ruled him out of the last three games but Julio Arca is back in training.
