Milan confident of signing their No 1 target - Arsenal's Adebayor

AC Milan believe their No 1 target Emmanuel Adebayor wants to quit Arsenal for the San Siro - but Arsene Wenger has slapped a prohibitive £30million price tag on the Togo striker.

Italian sources claim a pivotal meeting is scheduled on Monday between the clubs and Milan, anxious to regain their place at the pinnacle of Serie A, are confident that Adebayor is ready to join this summer.

But Arsenal manager Wenger is determined to keep his team's golden goal ticket.

But as Sportsmail revealed, Wenger has already earmarked a raid for Blackburn's prolific former Bayern striker Roque Santa Cruz, who would cost around £10m, should he fail to keep Adebayor at the Emirates.

Highly-rated Le Mans striker Gervinho claims that he too is on Arsenal's radar. The 21-year-old Ivory Coast prospect says that his agent has already held talks with Arsenal but he would like to stay in France.

Gervinho said: 'Arsenal have spoken to my agents and they are looking at it. Arsenal are a big team, they have made it clear they want me.'

But the striker added: 'I would prefer to stay in Le Mans and learn my trade. I owe them more years.'
