Milan to back Holloway for raids on Derby, Sunderland and Cardiff

Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric will use the transfer window to back manager Ian Holloway with bids for Derby striker Steve Howard and Sunderland pair Marton Fulop and Graham Kavanagh.

Mandaric is also ready to bankroll an offer for Cardiff's versatile Tony Capaldi to underline his belief that Holloway is the man to deliver a Barclays Premier League place within three years.

Target man: Ian Holloway is planning a move for Derby's Steve Howard

Leicester are prepared to offer £1.25million for Howard and £1.35m as a joint offer for Kavanagh and Fulop, who has been on loan since August.

After seeing his side concede a late equaliser to Charlton, Holloway insisted: "It doesn't take a genius to see that one of the things we need is a centre forward."

Skipper Stephen Clemence put Leicester ahead with a 78th-minute header but former Leicester centre back Patrick McCarthy equalised 40 seconds from the end with a goal he refused to celebrate despite being booed throughout by home fans.
