Milan's joy at making Becks dream a reality

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti admits the club are flattered by David Beckham's claim that staying with them is "a dream".

The England international arrived in Italy in January in what was largely regarded as a publicity stunt but he has exceeded all expectations. Now he has agreed a deal to stay until the end of June, when he will return to the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The midfielder inspired another win, this time 3-0 over Atalanta yesterday, and Ancelotti said: "He has said something important. It gives us satisfaction for a player of his stature to say such a thing."

Beckham confirmed his own sacrifice in helping the deal go through, which is thought to have been financial. "I'm grateful to both clubs for allowing this dream to come true," Beckham said. "I've been able to help myself stay in Milan, if I can put it that way."
