More surgery for Ledley

Ledley King will have an operation on torn cartilage in his left knee next week and is likely to miss the start of a season for the second time.

Last summer the Spurs captain, 26, had a similar operation on his right knee, forcing him to miss a month of the campaign.

Summer sickener: Ledley King faces another lay-off

King has suffered four major injuries in little more than a year, raising fears that his career may be under threat.

But Spurs boss Martin Jol said: "It's a routine op and it makes sense for Ledley to have it now."

Jol is set to sign Auxerre central defender Younes Kaboul, 21, for £7.5million and is close to a £500,000 deal for Standard Liege's 18-year-old midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
