Mosley faces fresh call to stand down

Motorsport is ready to wash its hands of Max Mosley, with the American Automobile Association the latest organisation calling for the FIA president to go.

The AAA have called for the 67-year-old to step down following reports of his participation in a sadomasochistic orgy with five prostitutes. There were further revelations published at the weekend, including an interview with one of the women, claiming to be involved.

Not one Formula One team have come out in support of Mosley and he has faced calls for his resignation from five of the national motoring federations.

Yolanda Clark Cade, the AAA director of public relations, described the revelations as "very distressing and embarrassing".

A statement read: "After careful consideration, the AAA have conveyed to Mr Mosley that it would be in the best interest of all concerned if he were to step down."

Mosley has called a special general assembly to be hosted in Paris in a bid to state his case to the 222 national motoring member organisations from 130 countries.
