Mourinho continues his big England tease with offer to Barwick

Life-long friend and media adviser Eladio Parames denied Mourinho had been contacted about replacing Steve McClaren but insisted the former Chelsea boss is ready to listen to what FA chief executive Brian Barwick has to say.

Hello, is it me you're looking for? Mourinho is apparently keen on the England job
'He likes English soccer, the people, the country, the players,' said Parames. 'It would be something he'd consider. But he's not waving his hand in the air trying to get (the FA's) attention. If he's approached, he'll reply.'
Although Parames claimed Mourinho would be 'honoured' to be offered the job, he admitted there are obstacles to be overcome. He added: 'If he were approached he'd consider it, discuss it, negotiate and present his own ideas. I'm sure he'd consider the offer.
'To be manager of England is not the same as being manager of another country. It is a big job; a very interesting job. Every coach would be honoured to be invited.
'There are a lot of things pushing him to say "yes". But he likes his privacy; he likes his life not in the papers.'
In addition, reported pay demands of £6million a year would require some hard negotiation. But Parames insisted that cash is not a motivating factor in Mourinho's thinking. 'Jose's problem would never be money,' he added.
A far greater problem would be to persuade Mourinho that a move into international management at this stage of his career would be the right step given that he is understood to prefer the chance to manage one of Europe's prestigious clubs.
Reports on Monday that Marco van Basten is set to stay on as Holland coach beyond Euro 2008 — snubbing advances from Barcelona and AC Milan — appear to have removed one high-profile threat to Mourinho's chances of landing a post with either European giant.
