Mourinho exit is no surprise, says Platt

Football often throws up surprises and former England captain David Platt feels the split has been on the boil for some time.

Beginning of the end: Miserable Mourinho against Rosenborg
'It's a surprise to a certain extent but there have been rumours over the past 12 to 18 months of a difference of opinion between Roman Abramovich, Jose Mourinho and more people.
'The one thing that isn't in doubt is that Jose's legacy is that he has turned Chelsea into a top club, winning the premier League in his first season, following it up with another title and taking more trophies as well getting to the Champions league semi-finals.'
Platt believes there will be plenty of twists and turns as the search for a successor heats up and he added: 'The usual suspects will be linked with the job and there is bound to be a lot of speculation as to who is going to take over.
'There are one or two candidates who will could come in immediately as they will not have to be prised away from any club but I imagine there will be a different name in the papers every morning.'
Former Aston Villa, Arsenal and Sampdoria midfielder Platt is one of the heady mix of football legends, celebrities and fans uniting for a unique football tournament.
Premier League All Stars is an eight-day knockout competition, which will see all 20 top flight clubs fielding teams made up of four legends, three celebrities and three ordinary supporters.
Ruud Gullit, Fabrizio Ravanelli, Jamie Redknapp, Paul Merson, Ray Wilkins, Roberto di Matteo, Tony Cottee and Rob Lee are among the former stars lining up opposite Platt.
And celebrities include Angus Deayton, Colin Murray, Mark Ramprakash and Gareth Gates.
The event runs in conjunction with the Premier League's new community initiative, Creating Chances, which showcases the Premier League and its clubs' contributions to local communities and charities.
The clubs will play for cash donations to charities of their choice, with the greatest sum going to the champion's chosen charity along with the tournament trophy.
All of the All Stars action will take place over eight consecutive days from this Sunday until Sunday, September 30 at a state of the art indoor facility in London.
Sky One will screen a live two-hour programme each evening at 8pm with Ian Wright and Helen Chamberlain presenting the shows.
'It will be great fun and once the games get under way all the old players will be at their competitive best to show they have still got what it takes to be winners,' Platt added.
