Moyes out to catch a Spider: Everton eye Turkey midfielder

Germany's Bastian Schweinsteiger (R) scores past Turkey's Mehmet Topal during their Euro 2008 semi-final

Everton are considering a move for Turkey international Mehmet Topal.

Galatasaray defensive midfielder Topal, 22, played for Turkey during their run to the semi-finals of Euro 2008.

Nicknamed ‘Spider’ because his rangy style and long legs, Topal only signed a new five year deal in April.

Everton have also been linked with Manchester United’s Darren Fletcher and Joao Moutinho of Sporting Lisbon as well as Sporting goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic.

Wigan Athletic are expected to hold talks with Andrew Johnson's representatives in the next 48 hours over a £10m move.
