My team-mates aren't as arrogant as they look on TV, says Chelsea's Little Crespo

Argentinian striker Franco di Santo is confident he can soon break into the first team at Chelsea.

The 18-year-old, who was reportedly being chased by a host of Barclays Premier League clubs including Liverpool and Manchester United, joined the Blues last month from Chilean side Audax Italiano.

Di Santo was prolific for Audax but he will be competing with Didier Drogba, Andriy Shevchenko, Claudio Pizarro and fellow new signing Nicolas Anelka at Stamford Bridge.

He told Chilean newspaper El Mercurio: "I think you always have to be positive. I have confidence. After some time, two months or a year, I will fight for the position with anybody.

"If I compare myself to them, the difference is huge, but it is because they have been playing for 10 years. I know I cannot do the same as they do now, but I have some things they don't have - I am young!"

The Argentina Under-20 star, who holds an Italian passport, has praised the welcome he has received from his new team-mates.

"People here are so kind," said Di Franco. "I used to watch them on TV and told myself they would be arrogant but it is totally different when you are inside.

"Despite all they have won, they treat you like one of them and you have to treat them the same. If not, they get angry. I never imagined I would be here watching Michael Ballack, Pizarro or Frank Lampard playing pool in front of me. Being with them and spending time with them is unbelievable.

"They help you in whatever you need. Whatever they can give to you, they do. I really don't want to wake up from this dream."

Di Santo also revealed defender Ricardo Carvalho has nicknamed him 'little Crespo' after former Chelsea and Argentina striker Hernan Crespo.

"One day, Carvalho called me 'Crespito' because of Hernan, who also played here, but he is the only one who calls me that. The others call me Frank."
