Neill set to leave West Ham to link up with fellow Aussie Kewell in Turkey

West Ham captain Lucas Neill looks likely to follow Australia team-mate Harry Kewell to Galatasaray.

The defender, with two seasons left on his £60,000-a-week contract, has been talking to the Hammers about a new deal but could now decide to join up with former Liverpool midfielder Kewell, who is close to finalising his move to the Turkish side.

West Ham are committed to trimming their squad and cutting their wage bill and Neill's departure would certainly fit in with those plans.

Manager Alan Curbishley already has his eye on a replacement for the 30-year-old former Millwall and Blackburn defender and could move quickly this week to sign Lazio's Valon Behrami.

The Swiss international can play at right-back or on the right side of midfield and is attracting plenty of interest from other clubs in Europe.

West Ham's new technical director, Gianluca Nani, previously at Italian club Brescia, has been working hard to bring 23-year-old Behrami to Upton Park though and the move could go through this week.
