Moyes, with his squad preparing for two matches in Chicago and Denver, expects to sign next week and remains confident he will soon have a number of new recruits.
Portugal midfielder Joao Moutinho, of Sporting Lisbon, is a priority despite having an £11.8million bid rejected, with Real Zaragoza striker Diego Milito another target.
Moyes said: 'Hopefully, in the next week or so I'll get it (the new contract) tied down.
'I want the best for Everton and don't want to let the players down. I've told them there will be more players coming to help them along the way. I want to make sure that's done before anything else.
'I am expecting us to get to cup finals, to have a long run in the UEFA Cup and to do well in the league, so I will need lots of cover and lots of players.'
