Newcastle heading south as Walsh exits

Newcastle United's administrative move towards London has continued with the sacking of northern-based chief scout Steve Walsh.

His departure, following the axing of most of the scouting staff three weeks ago, is further indication of the peripheral role of manager Kevin Keegan in such matters which are now the responsibility of new executive director (football) Dennis Wise.

It also means those in charge of recruitment, Tony Jimenez, Jeff Vetere and Lil Fuccillo, operate almost entirely from around London.
