Newmarket trainer Sir Michael Stoute appoints Ryan Moore

The nine-time champion trainer has been without a stable jockey since Kieren Fallon quit the position to join Aidan O'Brien in February 2005. Since then, Stoute has used a combination of Moore, Kerrin McEvoy, Mick Kinane and a host of bit players to land two trainers' titles and finish runnerup to O'Brien this year.

But Moore has played an increasing role in the stable's success. This year, for the first time, Stoute overtook Richard Hannon as his main supplier of wins with 47 out of a total of 126.
Stoute supplied the first Group One winner of Moore's career with Notnowcato in last year's International Stakes at York.
Notnowcato gave the pair two wins at the highest level (Tattersalls Gold Cup and Eclipse)this season. They were supplemented with Group One victories for Eschelon (Matron Stakes) and Allegretto (Prix Royal-Oak).
Although Moore enjoys plenty of backing from his original mentor Hannon (33 winners this year), there may be fewer opportunities now that Richard Hughes, Hannon's son-in-law, is no longer retained by Khaled Abdullah and riding freelance in 2008.
Stoute said: "We haven't had a stable jockey since we had Kieren in the 2004 season but Ryan and myself will have a chat about it in Japan. It seems a good place to have a chat I would think."
After three months off with injury, Moore finished this season with a flourish to secure third in the jockey's table.
Stoute, who has won the Japan Cup twice with Singspiel in 1996 and Pilsudski a year later, reports his latest hope to be in good order. He said: "All the reports I have had about Papal Bull have been favourable and he has recovered well from his long flight."
