Norris told to explain his gesture

Ipswich's David Norris who appeared to celebrate a goal with a handcuffs gesture to show support for another player jailed for the deaths of two children was today urged to "make a face-to-face apology" to the youngsters' family.

The mother of the boys killed in the crash said the midfielder had made life harder for her with his gesture at Blackpool on Saturday and the Football Association have written to Norris asking for an explanation.

Former Plymouth keeper Luke McCormick was jailed for seven years and four months after being convicted of causing the deaths of the Peak brothers, Ben, 10 and Arron, 8. McCormick, an ex-team-mate of Norris, admitted causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving.

McCormick, 25, was returning from Norris's wedding in Bolton when his car hit a people carrier containing the boys in June.

Norris denied the getsure was to do with McCormick but the boys' mother, Amanda, said: "I'm finding it difficult not to hate Luke McCormick and when people are doing silly things like that it makes it very hard. I'd rather he sent an apology to us personally."
