Not quite down to the bare bones but Redknapp fears tough New Year with little to spend in January

Harry Redknapp admits he has little chance of having money to spend at Portsmouth in the transfer window.

The club's push for a European place could suffer in the New Year when Redknapp loses Sulley Muntari, Kanu, John Utaka and Papa Bouba Diop to the African Nations Cup for up to six matches.

And the Portsmouth boss, who has spent upwards of £30million on new signings this season, fears that with a new training ground and new stadium plans in the pipeline, he will be unable to splash out on reinforcements.

"I don't expect to have money to spend in January," he said.

"I'm going to have to depend on loan signings but at this time of the season who is prepared to loan you good players? It doesn't look good. I think it is going to be very tough for us next month."
