On the line: Sleepy Wasps set alarm bells ringing
06 May 2007
When an inspector called at the club's training ground in Acton on Wednesday, he ordered the sleeping quarters in the team's 'R and R' suite to be closed because there was no alarm system.

The staircase to the viewing gallery above the physiotherapy area has also been shut because of a lack of a fire exit.
Other issues, such as blocked and locked fire doors and a lack of evacuation procedures, were also raised with the club, who will have until the end of the month to remedy the problems.
Media manager Fiona Hackett said: "We are co-operating fully with the London Fire Brigade. The players have been training as usual and the offices are working normally."
But some hope the embarrassing episode will prompt owner and chairman Chris Wright to devote more time and money to the facilities.
Daley on course
Diving prodigy Thomas Daley remains on course to become one of Britain's youngest ever Olympians after making his debut in senior competition at the tender age of 12 in Montreal.
A remarkable 10th-place finish in the 10m platform event, in which he came second to Athens silver medallist Pete Waterfield at December's British Championships, confirmed he has the potential to qualify for next year's games in Beijing, by which time he will be 14.
But if that is a step too far for Daley, perhaps the craze to find athletes from other sports with transferable skills will lead the British Olympic Association to Chelsea's Joe Cole, in the light of his artistic display last Tuesday at Anfield.
ITV devastated the BBC's sports portfolio by pinching the FA Cup and England matches and now they want to turn the knife - or, rather, the tungsten.
After two decades away from the oche, ITV have agreed in principle to screen November's Grand Slam of Darts, the showdown between players from the rival PDC and BDO organisations.
Sky, who had first refusal, reportedly felt they were close to saturation point with darts, and ITV, who pioneered coverage of the sport in the Seventies, pounced to beat off competition from Setanta.
If, as expected, the PDC stars, led by Phil 'The Power' Taylor, give their opponents a good beating, it will hardly reflect well on the BDO World Championship, to be screened by the BBC only weeks later.
Threats
Bungs are not the only way of trying to grease football's dirty wheels - threats of violence are another tactic, it seems.
The Football Association are aware of claims that an agent warned a Premiership chief executive and another agent that he would 'have their legs blown off' if they obstructed a particular transfer.
But the club official refused to be intimidated and the player moved to another top-flight side.
