1930: Don Bradman scored a record 309 in a day during the third Test against
England at Headingley - no one has ever scored more on one day of a Test.

1932: Yorkshire's Hedley Verity took all 10 Nottinghamshire wickets for just 10 runs at Headingley.

1969: Tony Jacklin became the first home winner of the Open since Max Faulkner in 1951.

1998: France beat Brazil 3-0 in the World Cup final with two goals from Zinedine Zidane and one from Emmanuel Petit.

2001: Argentina international Juan Sebastian Veron completed his £28.1million move from Lazio to Manchester United.

2003: England won the NatWest Series final by seven wickets against South Africa at Lord's.

2004: Chelsea signed Mateja Kezman from PSV Eindhoven for £5million, while
Portsmouth signed Lomana LuaLua and David Unsworth.

2005: Adam Gilchrist smashed 121 not out - his 11th one-day international century - as Australia hammered England by eight wickets to win the NatWest Challenge decider at The Oval.

2008: Ajax confirmed Ryan Babel had signed a five-year contract with Liverpool
after the clubs agreed a deal worth 17 million euros (£11.5million)
