1907: Northamptonshire were bowled out for 12 by Gloucestershire at Gloucester,
still the all-time lowest innings score in a first-class match between two
counties.

1952: Denis Compton hit his 100th first-class century and went on to make
another 23 tons before retiring in 1964.

2000: Niall Quinn equalled Frank Stapleton's record of 20 international goals
as the Republic of Ireland beat South Africa during the Nike Cup in the United
States.

2004: Manchester United completed the £6.9million signing of Gabriel Heinze
from Paris St Germain.

2005: Darren Gough claimed his second England hat-trick as the national side
warmed up for the NatWest Series against Australia by beating Hampshire by 153
runs.

2007: Michael Vaughan became the most successful Test captain in England's
history as his side beat West Indies by 60 runs in the third Test at Old
Trafford. It was Vaughan's 21st Test win as captain, overtaking Peter May's
record.
