1932: India made their Test cricket debut against England at Lord's. The hosts, captained by Douglas Jardine, won by 158 runs.
1948: Joe Louis beat 'Jersey' Joe Walcott at New York's Yankee Stadium to make his 25th and last defence of his world heavyweight title a successful one. Louis
won in the 11th round - and eight months later he retired.
1969: The longest men's singles match ever played at Wimbledon took place between Americans Pancho Gonzales and Charlie Pasarell. Their 112 games took five hours and 12 minutes, Gonzales recovering from 24-22 and 6-1 reverses in the first two sets to win the last three 16-14 6-3 11-9.

Barcelona's former Arsenal hero Thierry Henry
2002: Michael Ballack netted the only goal as Germany beat co-hosts South Korea in Seoul to reach the World Cup final - but also picked up a yellow card which ruled him out of the showpiece match against Brazil.
2004: Holders France were knocked out of Euro 2004 after a 1-0 defeat to eventual winners Greece.
2007: Arsenal striker Thierry Henry passed his medical to bring his £16million move to Barcelona a step closer to reality.
