Open hero Wood gets set for professional debut in Sweden

Chris Wood, fifth in the Open Championship at Birkdale as an amateur, will make his professional debut at the SAS Masters in Stockholm from August 14-17.

'With Chris' recent success at Birkdale and all the hype surrounding his professional debut we're obviously thrilled to invite him,' said Fredrik Nilsmark, managing director of the SAS Masters.

The 20-year-old from Bristol will try to emulate the success of fellow silver medal winner Rory McIlroy and earn enough money on the Order of Merit to earn his card for the 2009 season without a trip to the qualifying school in November.
