Oscar Pistorius runs out of time for Berlin bid

Double amputee Oscar Pistorius has given up trying to qualify for the 400metres at next month's World Athletics Championships.

The Paralympic gold medallist ran a season's best of 47.07sec last week - well short of the qualifying time of 45.95.

In February the South African was in a boating accident and suffered head and facial injuries, which have hampered his training.

"Having not made the minimum qualifying time for Berlin, I must resign myself to staying at home," said Pistorius last night.
