Meanwhile Sunderland midfielder Dwight Yorke has admitted he was disappointed to see a return to the A-League dashed after negotiations with Central Coast Mariners broke down last month.

In other news former Aberdeen defender Richie  Byrne, who was released by Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood at the end of last season, is set to join Brighton or Leyton Orient while Dundee are giving trials to Northern Ireland international Sean Webb and ex-Carlisle midfielder Neale McDermott at their pre-season training camp in Malta.
