Out-of-favour Spurs stopper Robinson welcomes Aston Villa's £4m interest

Paul Robinson has revealed his desire to resurrect his career at Aston Villa according to sources close to the out-of-favour Tottenham goalkeeper.
Robinson's hopes of playing a part at White Hart Lane next season have further diminished with the imminent £7million capture of Heurelho Gomes from PSV Eindhoven.
Villa Park's that way: Paul Robinson's off for £4m
Martin O'Neill is understood to be weighing up a £4m firm move for Robinson although, contrary to reports, no bid has been made and talks have still to take place.
And Robinson believes O'Neill is the kind of manager who can bring the best out of him and help get his career back on track.
He came close to joining Villa under previous manager David O'Leary before making the switch from Leeds to Spurs four years ago.
Now the 28-year-old would jump at the chance of a move to the midlands club who finished sixth in the Barclays Premier League last season.
Robinson began last season as the England number one but lost his place to David James and similarly fell out of favour with Juande Ramos at White Hart Lane.
A source close to the player said: "Paul would welcome the opportunity to move to a club like Aston Villa.
'He believes Martin O'Neill can help to bring the best out of him. He realises his chances of playing regularly at Tottenham look unlikely.
'He feels such a move would help to resurrect his career.'
O'Neill has also checked on Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc and Wolves stopper Wayne Hennessey but Robinson is looking likely to be his preferred choice at around £5million.
O'Neill has to strengthen in that department after Thomas Sorensen's contract was not extended and Scott Carson returned to Liverpool after a season-long loan.
