Owen return for Newcastle on Sunday unlikely

Michael Owen's wretched injury run looks like ruling him out of Newcastle's home game against Derby on Sunday.

Manager Sam Allardyce had hoped to have the striker back for the first time since picking up a thigh injury while on England duty. But Owen's chances are reckoned to be less than 50-50, hitting hopes of of him being sold in the transfer window.

Allardyce is closing in on a deal with Swindon for 17-year-old left back Ben Tozer. The fee will rise to £1.2m if Tozer establishes himself at St James' Park.
