Padraig’s on a high

Padraig Harrington is still struggling to come to terms with his astonishing recent success.

Harrington has won the last two majors and also become the first European to retain the Open Championship since 1906.

With three major titles, the Irishman has surpassed the achievements of Ian Woosnam, Sandy Lyle, Bernhard Langer and Jose Maria Olazabal.

"When I look at the guys who I put up on a pedestal as I was growing up, and think I now have more majors than them, it startles me a bit," said Harrington.

"I don't feel as comfortable as maybe I should. I've won more majors than those guys and they were my heroes."

Harrington has not played since his disappointing Ryder Cup but this week he will be attempting to win a third Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland, where victory would almost certainly see him end the year as Europe's No1 again.
