The fiery London Irish hooker, no stranger to yellow cards, was sent off for punching Harlequins' Mark Lambert during Saturday's match.

It is alleged Paice (right) then abused referee Tim Wigglesworth and fourth official Dave Pearson as he left the pitch. If found guilty at today's hearing in London, Paice could be banned for at least six weeks.

Paice is one of England's outstanding young forwards but this kind of charge will only increase the impression that too many players available to team manager Martin Johnson cannot control themselves on the pitch.
