Pakistan selector quits following Oval humiliation

Pakistan's chief selector, Abdul Qadir, has announced his resignation.

Qadir, who won 67 Test caps, had been in the post less than six months and his decision comes just a day after his country's heavy World Twenty20 defeat to England.

While no official reason has been given for his departure, some reports speculate it is due to yesterday's loss, while others believe Qadir has fallen out with PCB chairman Ijaz Butt.

Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam (left) said: "I have heard about this, but I don't know why he has resigned. It doesn't affect us in this tournament and we will sort it out once we get home."
